Close to La Boissiere we are blessed with some of the following sporting activities:
Canoeing, Kayaking and River Cruises
With an abundance of wonderful rivers the Dordogne is home to many companies that provide all the equipment for you to take up this sport or to develop your skills further. All ages are catered for and there is a great emphasise placed upon safety. The rivers are beautiful and provide an ideal opportunity to see the area from a very different angle. Why not spend a day on the water, find a tranquil spot for lunch and enjoy one of our delicious picnics.
Fishing
All around us are rivers and ponds teeming with fish, we are on hand to steer you in the right direction and assist in obtaining necessary permits.
Golf
Two golf courses are within ten minutes drive of La Boissiere and another excellent course is half an hour away so we are superbly positioned to be a base for a week's golf holiday or for those just wanting an odd relaxing round. We will be happy to arrange tee off times for you at local courses where at one we have arranged for a 20% discount off green fees for our guests. Golf De La Marterie and Lolivarie Golf Club
Tennis
Siorac, two kilometres away, has some very good public courts that we can book for you. We have tennis racquets and balls available to borrow.
Rugby
In season we are in Rugby country and every weekend there is Rugby of a very high standard to watch nearby whilst supping a glass of red wine or a local beer and munching on a Toulouse Sausage!
Horse riding
A lovely peaceful way to experience The Dordogne is on horseback. There are hundreds of bridal ways to be explored and horses to suit the more experienced and beginners are available locally.
Walking
A network of both long and short distance walks dot the area taking in both the beautiful countryside and many of the local towns and villages. Detailed maps and information are readily available and we are happy to pass on the whereabouts of some of our favourites.
Cycling
Exploring rural France on a bicycle is certainly the best way to see the pretty villages and catch a glimpse of rural French life. Cycling in the area can be as easy or as hard as you want.
"Just had a great week at La Boissiere where we based ourselves for a road cycling holiday. Stuart and Tish were excellent hosts, recommending various places to visit and eat and also cooked us some meals in the evenings - we enjoyed the trip to the local micro brewery too. The setting is fabulous looking over towards the Dordogne and the large pool area very relaxing. The houses have been renovated very well and are in keeping with the area while still being very comfortable. Our bikes were kept securely locked away in a storage area and the rides from the door were fantastic in every direction. A great week with great hosts, thanks." Adrian Ryalls, England
We are happy to help you find the sporting activity you want! Please let us know your wishes and we will come up with suggestions.
